New this month is the Indian River Symphonic Association's Call to Artists for their 2009-10 Program Cover Design (FREE).

MORE NEWS DOWNTOWN: We need your input! The Friday Farmers Market has been growing in popularity, and Main Street Vero Beach plans to begin "Saturday in the Park" featuring various vendors throughout the month. The initial plans are to have and arts & craft show set up along the sidewalk (like the Farmers Market layout) once a month. Booth fees will be only $20. We visited Art Mundo at the Art Bank in downtown Ft. Pierce. WOW - a space was rented while we were there & they have recently expanded to the Mezzanlne and third floor. There are a number of studio rental spaces available, including mini-studio spaces and spaces for artists who work in large formats. Hibiscus Building-Downtown Vero Beach on 14th Avenue

First Floor Space in the Hibiscus Building across from the Community Center is available for short and long term rental. Have your gallery/studio downtown in the heart of the Hibiscus Festival. The Outlet Mall in Vero Beach

Several stores in the Outlet Mall are available for displays of paintings by local artists. Ranging from 30 to 45 running feet of window space, artists are invited to display their work on easels. Electricity is available - artists must provide lighting and signage. Stores are closed, however, a reception/opening can be arranged. Sculpture at the Norton


The sculpture filled courtyard at the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach is a place that I always enjoy visiting. A member of the Norton since I moved to Florida twenty-six years ago, I have attended innumerable membership previews where cookies and punch or hors d’oeuvres and wine were served outside in the courtyard. There one can admire the sculpture and the lush flora while sipping drinks and socializing. On other visits, I have gone out to the courtyard to relax, meditate, and rest my feet after wandering around the galleries. I love the classical sculptures particularly the sensuous ones of Pan. 2nd Annual Teen Art Show
North Indian River County Library

Teens are invited to submit their artwork and show off their talent at the North Indian River County Library.  They may choose their artistic medium - pencil, ink, chalk, computer generated, or any other format, but size is limited to 8.5 x 11 inches. All teens, ages 12 through 18, are invited to submit entries.  

Entries for the Teen Art Show will be accepted from June 8, 2009, through July 18, 2009. 

A grand prize and a runner up prize will be awarded in two age categories; 12yrs - 14 yrs, and 15yrs – 18yrs. Winners will be announced July 25, 2009, and all entries will be displayed in the library.  Prizes are being provided by the Friends of the North Indian River County Library.

"Your County at Work for You" Paint Out & Exhibition

"Your County at Work for You" is the next scheduled exhibition for the Art in Public Places Program at the County Administration Building.  Indian River County artists are invited to participate in a paint out and group exhibition at the Indian River County Administrative Complex, 1801 27 Street in Vero Beach. During the months of May & June artists may set up their easels or tripods in the mornings (9am-Noon, Monday through Friday) on the grounds of the complex to paint or photograph the buildings and campus. Artwork created from this "paint out" will be exhibited at the Administration Building A from July 31 to October 29, 2009.  Please obtain a models release from people depicted in the artwork. Indoor photo shoots & painting are not permitted. Submissions of artwork are due by July 16 via email to ircpublicart@yahoo.com

City of Vero Beach’s - 90th Anniversary Celebration Poster

 The City of Vero Beach invites artists of all ages to submit images of artwork to be considered for the 90th Anniversary Celebration Poster.  The Celebration will be held in historic downtown Vero Beach on Friday, October 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 830 p.m. The celebration will recognize the 90th year of Vero Beach ’s incorporation.

 The theme of the artwork must have an historical theme relating to the 90 years (1919-2009) of development and culture in City of Vero Beach . The image may be horizontal or vertical.  Electronic images only will be accepted.  The artwork must be 18” x 24” at 300 dpi. Artwork must include the artist’s signature within the work but no headline or copy will be accepted on the artwork. The poster will be used to promote the Anniversary Celebration and act as a beautiful keepsake of the event.

Images may be submitted via email to maria@mainstreetverobeach.org or on a CD, with artist’s name and contact information (address, telephone and email address) printed on the CD via mail to Main Street Vero Beach, 2036 14th Avenue, Suite 103, Vero Beach, FL 32960. The deadline is July 31 2009 at 5 p.m.  If chosen, the artist will agree to permit the use of artwork submitted to be reproduced on posters and in all related publicity/advertising by the City of Vero Beach .
